The Motorola Homesight Gateway home security system comes with one gateway unit, one IP camera, one door sensor, one power controller and one temperature sensor. You can have the system set up in as little as 30 minutes.

You can use the system to watch your kids at home while you're at work, watch and listen to the baby when you're in another room, receive alerts when a window or door is opened and monitor temperature levels in your house.

The Motorola Homesight Gateway allows you to see your home when you're not there. You can go on vacation or go to work and you'll be able to watch what's going on at your home.

The Homesight security system will keep you connected to your home through your broadband internet connection. You can see what's happening at your home through a PC or your cell phone.

You can program the camera to come on at intervals or when motion is detected. The IP camera can also record in real time.

This system only comes with one door sensor, so you might want to buy additional sensors if you want to place some on your windows or additional doors.

How Does the Motorola Homesight Gateway Work?

When you have sensors on the doors or windows, and the door is opened or a window is opened, the sensor will trigger the camera to start recording. The temperature sensor can be programmed to trigger the camera if the temperature gets unusually low or high in a certain area of the house.

If your system detects a problem in your home, it will alert you and up to 7 people that there is a problem. You can program the 7 people you want notified in case of emergency.

The Homesight Gateway can send you text message alerts and still images to your cell phone. You can also access real time video over the internet from a PC.

Is the Homesight Gateway Home Security System Worth It?

The price varies, but most online retailers sell it for under $300. If you want additional cameras, that will cost you around $90. Extra sensors will cost $20 to $40. If you want the ability to have 2-way remote system control, then there is a monthly subscription fee of $10 to $14.

If you have a larger home, you might want to buy the Medium or Large home security kit. This will cost a couple of hundred dollars more.

The video and picture quality is not all that great. But, it's adequate for the job you want it to do. As long as you can see what's going in your home, that's good enough.
