SecurityMan Home Security DIY System: How This Wireless Home Security System Works

home security diy

When thinking about doing home security diy (do-it-yourself), installing a wireless home security system is easier than trying to install a wired system. What Comes with the SecurityMan Wireless Alarm System?

The security system comes with:

  • One Air-Alarm1 host with built-in LEDs, keypad, and speaker

  • One Wireless Wide-Angle PIR Motion Sensor

  • One Wireless Magnetic Door/Window Sensor (with mount)

  • One Wireless Indoor Siren

  • Two Wireless Remote Controllers

  • One Phone Cable

  • And One Warning Sign

This system is great for home security diy because you can easily install it. And you can easily take it with you if you move.

How Does the Security System Work?

The motion detector has a range of up to 450 feet. You can use the sensor on a door or window. The transmission of the sensor to the base unit is up to 300 feet. If you want more sensors for additional windows and doors, you can buy extras.

The motion detector runs on a 9 volt battery. The remote control also runs on a 9 volt. There is a panic button on the base unit in case there is some type of emergency inside the home. The panic button is a good thing to have if there is an elderly person in the home.

When you install the system, you can program up to 5 emergency phone numbers that can be called in case the alarm is triggered. You'll need a landline with tone dialing in order for the unit to be able to call the numbers.

When a window or door is disturbed or broken into, the sensor will send a transmission to the base unit. The unit will sound an alarm and automatically dial the first number you programmed into the system.

When you or someone else answers the call, the unit will play a pre-recorded message. You will have the option of listening in on the room that was disturbed, broadcast your voice through the unit to speak to the intruder ("The police are on their way!"), or disarm the system.

If the security system can't reach anyone at the first number, it will dial the next phone number until it reaches someone. The alarm goes off at 120 decibels. That's about the level of a loud chainsaw.

Will This Security System Save Me Money?

It costs several hundred dollars to have a security company come into your home, install it and then pay a monthly fee to have them monitor the system. You can save that money and install a wireless home security system yourself.

Another added bonus is that if you move, you can take the system with you. You can't do that if you go through a home security monitoring company.

The Wireless Home Security System usually costs around $130. If you want extra sensors and motion detectors, they'll run you about $20-$25 each. After the initial costs, you don't have to pay monthly monitoring fees.

You become your own monitoring company when you program your system with the 5 emergency phone numbers. If your system calls you on your cell phone or at work, you can then call the police and have them go by your home and investigate the break-in.

Home Security DIY or Pay for a Monitoring Company?

If you want to save money and you just want a simple security system you can install yourself, then buying a wireless security system is your best option.

People who bought the Wireless Home Security System say that the set up is easy if you follow the directions.

There's nothing wrong with having more peace of mind, and if hiring a security company gives you that, then go for it.
