How to Catch a Thief with a Car Security Camera

Installing a car security camera in your vehicle is one way to catch thieves in the act. The car camera can be used to catch a thief who has stolen or tried to steal your car. It can also be used as evidence for insurance purposes or in a court of law.

The majority of car security cameras are digitally operated. Some run on a battery. Many contain motion detectors in order to save battery power. Memory chips are also in the cameras in order to store hundreds of photos.

In this day and age, the size of the car camera is really small. You can hide the camera pretty much anywhere in your car without a thief knowing it's there. The downside is that the camera can only view one side of the vehicle.

You can get a wired or wireless camera. Of course the wireless one will be more expensive. Also, the video/audio in a wireless camera is not as stable as the wired one. Wireless is faster to install than the wired camera.

The time and date will be shown on every photo that the camera takes. These photos are stored on the camera's memory chip. That's why the photos are helpful in establishing the time of the theft or attempted theft. The photos can also show any damage that might have been done to your car.

A digital car security camera can take pictures the moment there is movement in the view of the camera. This is done by infrared sensors. Some cameras can be monitored by remote control. The camera can be set to activate the moment someone's foot hits the gas pedal.

Should You get a Car Security Camera?

If you have the money and you really feel that you need to keep an eye on your vehicle, then maybe getting a car camera is the right thing for you. But a hidden camera doesn't really prevent thefts. It just catches the thief in the act.

There are plenty of other ways to prevent your car from being stolen. Some of those ways can be found in the Car Security Tips section of my website.

Having a car camera isn't a bad idea if you have the money for it and you have a really nice car. It's just added protection on top of the other car security tips I give you on this site.
